Kidd's 79th Triple-Double [Dec. 12th, 2006|02:46 pm]
netsbasketball

Kidd has finally moved to 3rd in the all time triple-double list. I don't think he'll ever scratch Magic Johnson or Oscar Robertson in the standings but 79 Triple-Doubles is freaking impressive.

Will Lebron James ever sniff 79 in his career? Could he even equal Kidd's TD production this year? He came close last year.

Here's a list of all of Kidd's 79 triple-doubles. These are some of the most impressive statlines ever seen.

Kidd is also close to averaging a Triple-Double right now:

PPG 13.3
RPG 8.70
APG 9.6

Thoughts on Nets 06-07 [Nov. 21st, 2006|08:25 pm]

Sheez. When was the last time someone posted on this board? Anyways, the Nets are on their annual Turkey Week Westcoast Roadtrip right now. Historically, they've sucked at this roadtrip but who knows? I'm more optimistic about the Nets this year than I have been the past two years.

The main reason for the optimism is that the Nets bench are actually contributing. Last year, the Nets' starters were the 2nd most efficient squad in the NBA. They were second only to last year's Detroit. The problem last year was that the starters can't play 48 minutes and their bench was pretty much Jacques Vaughn and Cliff Robinson. It still scares me to think we relied on those two as the bench. This year, Frank is actually playing the bench and they go really deep.

Marcus Williams is a baller. His passing skills are great but he's still finding his way around the court. My big issue with him is that he plays more like Steve Francis than he does Kidd. He dribbles too much and looks for his own shot. That and he doesn't play defense.

Antoine Wright is significantly improved. His offense is decent but his defense is better! Antoine has an average shooting touch but he rarely uses it. He is probably leading the league in layups this year. All he does is drive to the basket.

Nachbar already made me forget about last year's bench. This guy was a steal. He's the only bench player I'm confident in providing instant offense so far. Eddie House might be another player but we'll see how his rehab goes. You can't rave too much about Nachbar's defense because he really sucks at defending the 4s.

Uncle Cliffy is steady. As of right now, he's injured. When he does play he's doing all the things the team needs him to do.

Let's not forget about Hassan Adams and Josh Boone. Adams will be good someday. He has the heart and the tools there. His only problem is that he has a problem picking up the Nets offense.

As for the starters, Kidd and Carter are off to really good starts. Kidd is slowly regaining the form he had in 02. He won't ever be that player again but he is still the leader of the Nets and can change the game without even scoring. Carter is already playing better than he did last year. This guy's just impressing me more and more. Jefferson hasn't wowed me yet but then again, he was injured for 5 games. His jumpshot looks really good this year. Krstic has already shown improvement. His offense is getting better and his rebounding is already better than last year. He still picks up silly fouls.

Well, hopefully the Nets will do well this year. The Eastern Conference seems to be really weak so far this year. Call it parity, but everyone but the Magic and the Cavs are sucking right now. The Nets are a game above .500 right now but then again, they lost Jefferson for 5 days and Uncle Cliffy, Eddie House, and Josh Boone are all injured. So there's definitely room for improvement. With the exception of 02, the Nets has always started slow. Considering they're ranked 3rd in the East right now, the slow start is kinda encouraging. Look for them to get better as the season progress.

By the way, I was able to get Nets season tickets this year. They were selling 44 games for $200. Heck! The parking at the arena costs more than the actual tickets. Kudos to Thorn and Yomark for making it happen.

Game 1 vs. Pacers [Apr. 23rd, 2006|05:04 pm]

NJ 88
IND 90

---

This loss was totally on Carter's love of the jumpshot. I know Carter sometimes falls in love with his jumpshot but this was the worst I've ever seen Vice Carter's jumpshots miss. He totally missed the rim several time! He then teased the fans by showing that he actually could drive against the Indy D and then he reverts to the jumpshot. Then again, bad shot selections is the price a team pays for having an offensive superstar as Carter. The Nets pretty much lives on Carter's O.

It's game 1 of a seven game series so there's still plenty of basketball to play. Let's hope that Carter smartens up with his shot selection and as well as play some defense in the first half. He totally made Stephen Jackson look like Kobe today.

**If you haven't noticed, the Nets are one of the few teams in the league that has a FAB FOUR: Kidd, Carter, Jefferson, and Krstic.

After a 1 year hiatus, the Atlantic Conference is once again owned by the Nets.

1st ROUND PLAYOFF GAMES VS. INDIANA
4/23/06 @ NJ, 1 PM EST
4/25/06 @ NJ, 8 PM EST
5/2/06 @ Indy
5/6/06 @ Indy

I think I might go to the one on Sunday or maybe Tuesday.

So...is there any team out there that the Nets should fear? I think the only team that the Nets may not win against is Detroit. I think the Nets will win against Pacers and the Heat. Pacers haven't gelled yet and isn't the defensive force they once were. Miami lacks chemistry and the Nets handled them 3 - 1 this season. The one loss the Nets had against them came from a questionable last second no-foul call in Miami.

Finally! The Nets are back to form! Running and defending and scoring. They're actually following their team motto this year: "Bring it!" From what I noticed, here are the changes they made:

1) Frank went with the bench players he trusted: Vaughn, Robinson, and Padgett. McGinnis, Murray, Jackson were good in some ways but those 3 are capable of bonehead defensive plays. McGinnis' selfishness sometimes comes out and it hurts the offense.

2) They're communicating better on defense and the help defense has been awesome.

3) They're feeding Carter the ball. Jefferson, Kidd, and Carter are the big three. The first 17 games, they tried sharing the ball and they came up with a sub .500 record. They went away with that formula after the last 6 games and started feeding Carter the ball exclusively with Jefferson getting his touches through backdoor passes, fastbreaks, and defensive plays.

4) Kidd is 100% more aggressive. He's actually pushing the ball now.

5) Krstic is more consistent and not getting as many stupid fouls.

6) Most of the chemistry is back now. Jefferson predicted at the beginning of the season that the Nets won't have it's chemistry till around 20 games. He's almost right.

Gawd...the Nets are actually fun to watch again. I hope I don't jinx it for them tonight in Orlando.

Jason Kidd was on Regis and Kelly show. Regis schooled him in basketball. Here's the link: click here.

Jason Kidd talked about learning surfing, playing soccer as a kid, dressing up in a tutu, and being better than the Knicks.

Pics and Gripes [Dec. 1st, 2005|11:39 am]

I took some pictures from the Wizards game in November and as well as the Pistons game last night. I only have the Wizards game up so far but I'll post up the Pistons pics sometime over the weekend:

Nets vs. Wiz Pics

I had a better seat during the Pistons game but the damn backboard was in the way because it was literally right in front of me. So most of the shots are of people with their backs turned to me.

----

I'm a little bit annoyed at the Nets right now because they are playing so damn inconsistent. Their 3-point defense sucks more than last year's. Why can't they fix that!?!?!?

How come NJ doesn't run anymore? The only player that runs with Kidd is RJ. Carter and the gang just mosey on down the court. This team forgot that they went to the finals on the strength of their defense and transition offense. Yes, it's nice that we now have a half-court game but we have the weapons for transition. The defense isn't there anymore but we can still run on the few defensive plays the Nets make.

The Nets have 2 good offensive weapons, a great leader/playmaker, a semi-legitimate offensive post machine in Krstic, and a post-defensive star in Collins. The Nets can do better than a 7-8 record in November. The last time the Nets went 8-8 or .500 this early in the season is the time when Byron Scott got fired.

The Nets lost but Mourning got posterized 4 times by Carter and Jefferson. Here's a link to the best one:

First Game [Nov. 3rd, 2005|08:39 am]

The first game was so disappointing. Problems that plagued NJ in the preseason plagued them in the first game--no defense, no rebounds. Oh yeah...RJ deserved to get thrown out.

Well, it's only the first game and the season's not over yet.
